About the game
Battlefield 2142 is a first-person shooter computer game designed by Digital Illusions CE and is the fourth game in the Battlefield series. It is set in the 22nd century, during a new ice age. As of 2006, there have been over one million rounds played since its release.

The Battlefield 2142 rank system is comprised of a number of partially fictitious, partially realistic military ranks, and are (for the most part) each divided by a silver/gold format, with players attaining the silver version of the rank (e.g. Corporal Silver) before reaching the gold rank (e.g. Corporal Gold).

In 2106, the world froze in what was termed the "second Ice Age".
